Jasper Community Arts will host photographer and mixed media artist Scott Heinemeier’s work for the months of December 2022 and January 2023 at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center.
Heinemeier’s solo exhibit is a variety of large digital photographs taken from his many journeys to the Southwest.
“I am a storyteller. Whether it is pushing paint across a canvas or framing a subject within my camera lens my intention is to convey a mood, an emotion, and context in a single image that sparks the imagination of the viewer,” said the Collinsville, Ill. native. “The genesis of Journeys of the Southwest collection came from the desire to flee from the daily stress of life. The grand visuals and the enormity of the terrain changed my reference point in life.
“I would spend a decade, 2010 through 2020, flying and driving thousands of miles across Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas, documenting the region,” he added. “Using cameras from Olympus, Sony and Canon cameras as well as an iPhone 8, I took over ten thousand images. The collection represents some of the awe-inspiring moments from my desert saga.”
Scott Heinemeier received both his BA in Television & Radio Communications, along with a BA in Graphic Design & Photography from Southern Illinois University At Edwardsville.
Heinemeier’s solo exhibition will be on display from December 1, 2022, to January 29, 2023. Opening Reception will take place in combination with the Holiday Volunteer Thank You Reception on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Scott will give a Gallery Talk at 5:30 pm.
