COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.— The Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Naples man who confessed to using Snapchat to lure minors for sex.
Snapchat sent a cyber tip to The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), after a user shared illicit images on their site. The social media company said the user wanted to travel and meet a minor for sex.
NCMEC sent the tip to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, who identified the user as Jorge Tinoco Garcia.
Garcia, 23, told deputies he sent nude pictures to underaged girls, and chatted with them on Snapchat. According to the report, one girl he contacted was 15 years old. He also said he had nude photos of underage girls on his phone, but recently deleted them.
According to the report, Garcia confessed that he had agreed to meet three underaged girls for sex. He traveled to Marco Island, knowing the girls were between the ages of 13 and 15.
Garcia told deputies he didn’t remember their names or home addresses. He said the girls “snuck” out of their homes to meet with him, and he would drive them to the closest secluded area for sex.
A Snapchat Search Warrant for Garcia’s account was signed, which revealed multiple files of sexual content, including minors aged 8 to 16.
He faces multiple charges, including 16 counts of possession of child pornography, one count of soliciting a child to commit any illegal act, and one count of intent to promote child pornography.
